The Met One Instruments BC 1054 Multi-spectrum Black Carbon Analyzer is a device that measures the concentration of black carbon in real-time. It does this by continuously measuring the transmittance of light across filter media where particulate matter is accumulating, and calculating the black-carbon concentration at 10 different wavelengths ranging from near-UV to near-IR. The BC-1054 uses the same calibration constants and principles of operation as the Magee Aethalometer, which is widely accepted in the industry, but at a lower cost.

The BC 1054 can be connected directly to a variety of products, such as the BAM-1020, discrete particle size and counting modules, or a wide array of meteorological sensor inputs.
