The DustCanary Trend 420 is a continuous, real-time, qualitative personal dust detector designed to protect workers from inadvertent exposure to respirable dust, including silica, wood dust, metallic dust, bioaerosols, and more. It uses optical particle counting with the Next-PM sensor module to ensure optimal and reliable measurements in workplace environments. While the Trend 420 does not specifically measure respirable crystalline silica, it serves as a practical tool for alerting workers when overall respirable dust levels become hazardous.
Ideal for industrial and construction settings, the DustCanary Trend 420 offers a wide dynamic range, measuring dust concentrations from 10 mg/m³ down to less than 0.005 mg/m³, with a 2 L/min sampling rate from the front of the device. Its recording capacity of up to 7 days, with data collected at 1-second intervals, allows for continuous monitoring.
Configurable audible and visual alarms enable workers to take immediate action to minimize dust exposure, such as using respiratory protective equipment or vacating the area. Compact and lightweight (210g), the Trend 420 is ergonomically designed for all-day wear without catch hazards like sampling tubes or waste pumps that might interfere with movement or productivity.
The detector communicates seamlessly with the secure DustCanary web application via Bluetooth, allowing for easy configuration, live data charts, and access to alarms and dust logs, which can help visualize dust hotspots and variability across the worksite. In areas with unreliable internet access, the Trend 420 can still operate in offline mode.
DustCanary is a division of Air-Met Scientific, and the DustCanary Trend 420 is available exclusively from Air-Met Scientific for sale, rental, and service. Replacement sensors are supported with a manufacturer’s reference calibration report.
